Madmab and gradius3 proudly present the most comprehensive DOS experience for your Xbox!

Work on this sure took helluva lot of time. Sorry for not putting this beast out sooner. It is not completely finalized in its current state, but as time restraints and real life issues always get in the way we thought it would be best to release what we have done so far. It is all playable and good to go. Maybe someone wants to give this release the final touch sometime
All games are optimized for stock Xboxes. Speed and emulator configs were tweaked to get the best possible experience for every game. Obviously a lot of hardware demanding games wont run at all on the Xbox, so these were left out. We went through the hassle to go through almost the complete DOS games database (a few thousand) to gather the most worthy games for this collection. You will find the results in form of over 600 games and about 100gb of data. For a lot of games we choose the CD release over the disk version for when it gives the better experience. Where possible we included the full game over the shareware version. Also you will find quite some super rare asian (mostly korean) DOS games which you wont find in any other romset out there (i.e. ExoDOS). These are mainly action and shmup titles and are greatly playable. Then there a few german only games, mostly adventures. Furthermore we have only included games which arent playable on any other emulator on the xbox as DOS emulation is rather complicated (more on this later). Only exceptions are superior DOS versions as well as some adventures and few other games which can now be enjoyed with the glorious MT32 sound, as this was DOS exclusive and the Xbox ScummVM release cant emulate it.
We have preconfigured and optimized all games for the Xbox. So all installations, setups, button to pad mappings, etc. is all done for every single game. You can start each game with just the press of one button.

Important notes:
It is highly recommended that you run the games in 480i/p as a higher resolution will often result in a crash due to memory restraints. Same for the menu video mode. If you chose to set the menu video mode to higher than 480i/p youll have to change the individual game configs ( X on select ) to use Game Video Mode Standard 480i/p.
All of these games were tested using Gilou's Dynamic PM3 skin and with the game video mode set to 480i/p. I highly suggest avoiding any game video modes higher than 480i/p unless you have an xbox with extra RAM.
Exiting out of a game and launching another one without exiting the emu may result in a crash due to memory restraints. Rather exit to your dashboard and launch the emu again.
Save states are not supported by the emu. Use the save options within each game instead.
When possible.
On most games we tried to find the most complete version we could (aka no RIPS) and the CD version where we could (only if it improved the game). For a couple of games we included both the CD (enhanced) and original version due to performance reasons. If a game had add-on packs like mission, cutscene or speech packs, we would incorporate those in the xtras release. If a game had any fixes/updates that may need to be applied we installed them.
We tried to set the sound card options in the following order based on rather the game supports it or not. MT32, GUS and then SB. For the abbreviation handicapped that would be Roland MT32, Gravis Ultra Sound, and SoundBlaster. The only two exceptions are: If the MT32 sounds like crap we would go to the GUS. If either the MT32 or GUS could not be used without stuttering we would go with the SB. Games that have stuttering sound in any case sound perfectly fine on an xbox with a faster processor.
For some games the gfx options are toned down dramatically to be able to run the game with the limited power of the Xbox (i.e. Strike Commander, System Shock and Comanche).
As far as possible all relevant keys of a game were mapped to the joypad. Be aware that a lot of games also require a connected keyboard. A mouse will be useful as well.

This set contains:
- A new release of DosXbox (v14b5)
- MT32 Sound support
- Over 600 preconfigured games ready to load with the press of just 1 button
- Configs optimized for stock Xboxes

- Battle Isle 2
- Comanche
- Commander Keen series
- Duke Nukem 2D series
- Elder Scrolls 1 & 2
- Privateer
- Raptor Call of the Shadows
- Strike Commander
- System Shock
- Tie Fighter
- Ultima Underworld 1 & 2
- Wing Commander 2
- X-Wing

General ingame button mapping:
- Enter = Start
- Esc = Back
- Mouse = right analogue stick
- Left mouse button = white
- Right mouse button = black
- Pinball games are set to L+R Triggers

Getting started:
- Put the emulator folder on your HDD.
- FTP the E_Saves folder to the corresponding place (E:/Saves).
- Put the dosfile folders within the dosfiles folder of your emu. (This is VERY important).
- Start games exclusively from the files in the !Launchfile folder.

Please note: The games are in folders by genre. Moving them would require changing the C Drive location and the A Drive location or Mounted CDROM location if used. So keep that in mind. This should not be a big deal since all games are launched from the !Launchfile folder which contains all of the games in one list. This also means the games need to be located in the same folder as the emulator dosfiles. So be sure that you place the emulator on a drive with enough free space. You could also place the emulator on two separate drives and divide games that way if space is short on your drive.

Special game notes:
- Alien Breed TA Disk version

The floppy version is quite different from the Amiga release, since it doesn't retain the non-linear architecture of the levels.

- Death by Dark Shadows

Choose "b" at the startup screen (for no sound) and the game plays fine. Not doing so will result in a crash after a few minutes of gameplay. Seems to be a general problem of dosbox.

- Kings Quest IV

This is a custom special edition where you can even choose the amiga soundtrack which adds digital sound effects for environmental sounds, something the original DOS release lacks.

- Origin games (Wing & Strike Commander/Pacific Wings/Wings of Glory)

Ive tried to map every needed keyboard key to the joypad for the best gaming experience for these flight simulators. So I have created txt files for control reference.

- Origin games (Ultima 3 thru 5?)

These were updated with the enhanced graphic and music patches (probably dated by now). Definitely for Ultima 3 and 4. I can't remember if 5 needed any. If for some reason anyone does not like these enhancements we could probably do a normal setup at some point but for now too bad! :P

- Pacific Wings

The only game where you have to alter the cycles (speed). Set the value to 4000 when during story sequences and to 7000 in game mode. Either set it in the ingame menu or by holding the left trigger and pressing up/down on the D-pad.

- Royal Flush Pinball

To play just move the cursor to the front of the pinball machine to enter coins and then press the play button right next to the coin slot.

What needs to be done:
- All sorts of xtras as nothing is included. Madmab created some things but it is far from complete. Some games have manual protection so we will try to make them available.
- Deleting unused files in E:/saves as there are a lot of gamefiles which arent needed (as these were set up for testing purposes and the corresponding games failed to run properly. Deleting them was simply overseen).
- Double check if every game is starting fine (shoot a note if you find any).
- General clean up.

Special Thanks:
Although the set has changed A LOT. Special thanks to Guybird and RessurectionX who contributed to this set in its early stages (way before I even converted DosXbox to the madmab edition interface).
